A Day At The Races, But No Night At The Opera!

Hey team! I'm so sorry it's been 10 days since I last wrote but it's been manic at the moment! It's deadline time at uni so I've been working my bum off to get work done (or trying to at least...) which hasn't left me much time for blogging I'm afraid! Last deadline for this semester is Wednesday so I'll be back to posting regularly after that.

I went to Cheltenham Racecourse on Saturday and it was so much fun! I got to meet members of the boyfriend's family whom I'd not met before and don't worry, I apparently made a good impression. The ticket that we had included two £5 betting vouchers, so although I only won £6.50, I didn't lose any money, which is something I really can't complain about. This is the horse that won my boyfriend £12. Only a couple of the jockeys fell off their horses, but luckily no one, including the horses, were seriously hurt. It was a lovely weekend break away from the stresses of university and I got to see the boyfriend again, which was wonderful!

I bought a new dress for the occasion, although I didn't wear this to the races, I wore it when I went out for a meal that evening. It's not something I'd usually go for, so I was really pleased when I found it and discovered it fitted me! Sorry for the awful changing-room-picture! It's the only one I have; I'm terrible at taking photos at the moment!

It's a lovely mint-green colour! I love it. I'll be able to wear it in the evenings and in the days when the weather picks up in the summer!

As you may know, I am a little obsessed with drinking tea. Imagine my delight when I came home to a massive box with "Teapigs" written on the side! I quickly opened it up to discover an amazing gift from my sister:

11 different sorts of tea (one of the flavours has been doubled up because it's chocolate :P ) and each tiny packet has two teabags in! I think I may have to start doing weekly tea reviews, both on here and on my YouTube channel (that I have been abandoning lately... I really need to get back on that!)

I'm off to see the boyfriend in Exeter on Friday and I'm really excited to get almost a full week with him :D I'll be working on my dissertation too so I won't be relaxing, but I'll try to keep you updated on what's going on in the week with more photo-fun!

Moustache pizza?!

I woke up this morning to a news feed on Facebook full of statuses about the weather. I didn't even have to look outside to know what was going on... That's how rare snow is here. We (as a general rule) get far too excited about it, although I am sick of it and I wish I wasn't scared to walk somewhere without falling over! Anyway, we've had more snow here than we did on Monday. It was worse at home ("home" being near Portsmouth) which is ironic as I always thought the "north" had more snow!

My week hasn't been an exciting one. I was ill on Tuesday so had to skip my class, which was annoying. I must have had a stomach bug or something... Definitely not a hangover! Wednesday was also uneventful but I did have choir. I have missed singing a lot. I sang at church over Christmas a fair amount so I feel like I've been deprived a bit!

I have been obsessively watching Daria again on Netflix after my boyfriend told me it was there! I know that it's not going to get my essay written, but I can't help it. It's so addictive. I'm already over halfway through the second series and I only started watching them on Wednesday!

I just love Daria's lack of enthusiasm about everything and her sarcasm truly makes my day! It does make me miss school though because life was so much easier then!

I re-coloured my hair yesterday. I used Directions Atlantic Blue over the colours I already had, which has left the front more purple and the back a greeny-blue. I have included an obligatory tea-drinking photo which shows my hair in terrible light...

Saw the most awesome packaging ever today. French bread pizza. As a concept, not too exciting. Stick a moustache on the packaging and I just had to waste £1.29 on one! It's yet to be eaten... I think I'll treat myself to it tomorrow.

I'm going to get back to the episode of Daria I'm watching, stick on my pyjamas and get into bed. I have a busy weekend doing work! Yaaaaay!

Snooow!

I'm not going to write much about what I've been up to, because I've not really been up to anything to be honest!

It all kicked off in the house after I wrote my blog post on Friday night. SO MUCH NOISE but hey, they were drunk and I'm sure I've been like that before so I don't have a problem with it. It does mean that I was knackered (very tired) on Saturday and needed cheering up. I went into the town and did a bit of shopping!

I saw this tshirt and cardigan in H&M and knew that I had to have it! Especially as it really wasn't expensive... I decided that I don't have enough icecream or cupcake-based clothing in my life and that really needs to change! This cardigan looks like mint choc-chip icecream! Yuuuum!

After a lazy day yesterday, it started to snow! Woke up this morning and it was still snowing. All through my German class this morning it was STILL snowing! I was a little worried I wouldn't be able to get home, but I should have had faith in the English weather as it was sunny by the time I needed to leave uni.

We don't get that much snow in England so whenever we do, it's a definite novelty! Everything stops though too... If it kept snowing, buses and trains would stop therefore classes would have to be cancelled etc etc... We can't seem to function normally if the rain decides to freeze! One of my housemates took some good pictures of the snow so I'll have to share them with you at some point :)

I hope that you all have had a lovely day so far and that the weather hasn't affected you too much! I'm now going to have a lovely cup of tea to warm myself up :)

Introduction!! And my evening.

Well it's time for me to introduce myself to you. If you've been reading my blog since I started it last week, which I suspect no one has been following it religiously, then I'm sure you're wondering who Hanana the Banana really is, and whether she is actually a banana!

Sorry to disappoint you. I am not some magical banana who has hands.

This is me. The aim of this picture was to show off my hair, hence the two images next to each other... But yes.

Hi. My name is Hannah. I am 22 years old and I am a student currently studying German with French in Nottingham, England. I am like any typical student, as in I'm far too stressed some of the time, far too laid back some of the time, or far too drunk to care the rest of the time! I have many interests which include hair, makeup, crafting and singing. I make friendship bracelets and run a (very) small business called Banana Bracelets.

I dye my hair frequently and I'm sure you will see a hair timeline at some point as I have had many colours and colour-combinations! The above colour was for Christmas, but I will be re-colouring it soon as I'm getting really bored of it. I am also interested in piercings and other body modifications. I've not done any of my piercings myself, don't you worry, and I'm still deciding what I should have as my first tattoo!

If you have any questions to ask me, please feel free to leave me a comment asking me!

So it was my housemate, Matt's, birthday today (11th Jan) and he reached the age of 22. He is naturally very drunk at the moment as he had some mates up to celebrate tonight. I'm off alcohol at the moment so I decided to save my money and call it a night after the first bar we went to!

Christine and I made Matt a birthday brownie yesterday! It's SO delicious. I almost can't believe I made something that delicious myself! (With Christine's help, of course...) Maybe I'll post the recipe I used here soon :)

I really need to stop biting my nails...

Anyway, I am now tucked up in bed, in my pyjamas, with a cup of camomile with spiced apple tea, watching Love Never Dies, which my best friend (also called Hannah!) bought me for Christmas. It's SO delicious and I'll write about the Love Never Dies DVD in tomorrow's entry :D

I hope that you all have had a lovely week. I had a French speaking test today so that was fun! Got my German one next week... Ah the joys of a uni student!

Thursday 10 January 2013

A whole week has past since I last posted!

I want to say it's because I've been oh-so busy with my manic social life, but we all know that isn't true at all! January turns out to be the month of deadlines. It is also the month I decide to get my first cold in 2 years... Good timing body!

I went out on Saturday night with some of my housemates. I say this now as a piece of news because I looked through the photos from the night this evening, and some of them are hilarious!! I literally don't understand how we function sometimes! I think it's safe to come to the conclusion that we all need to drink a lot less... Good thing I've given up alcohol now!

This is me. My hair is actually more pink, but that's fine... Note the attractive colour of my tongue from too many double vodka and diet cokes!

James and Christine are two of my housemates. Christine definitely looks like she's enjoying herself a bit too much! No doubt you will end up seeing more of them as the blog goes on...

Ok, so maybe the photos are funnier because we were there other than because they were actually funny, I get it. You can stop pretending to laugh now.

Uni started back on Monday. That was a delight... I had a French presentation where I expressed my views on gay marriage for about 20 minutes. It went surprisingly well actually! Today I've just been working on German work that I have due in tomorrow but that's nothing interesting.

This blog entry has been horribly boring. Have some happles to make reading this entry worth your while.

I hope that you have a lovely day :)

The Day That Hanana Was Productive!

Yep, you heard right! I've actually had a productive day today. Not as productive as I would have liked but you know, beggars can't be choosers and all that jazz. The first productive thing I did was tidying some of my room. Note the some... My room still looks like a bomb's hit it but it's still a vast improvement on what it was.

I then did my makeup all nicely because I was fed up of looking at my room and fancied a change of scenery. I only went into the town centre but it was still nice as it cleared my head.

Seee, it's all nice and greeny. I find it fun to play with makeup and I had a colour similar to this in my Meat Loaf tshirt that I was wearing. *Stop talking about makeup!*

Another thing I did was find Monkey's non-Christmas jumper. Monkey is my toy monkey that can't be naked. I used to make him tshirts out of socks and my mum started to knit him jumpers! He only has two at the moment, but when I improve (or find a pattern as mum just makes them up!) then Monkey can have a larger wardrobe :P
Thought I'd include a picture of Monkey's two jumpers. They're so adorable. Yeah... he kinda looks old and "well-loved" but he is! I can't get over how talented my mum is :D

The final and probably most productive thing I did today was write a 1000-word German essay about location factors that businesses have to consider when setting up a factory... *snooooore*! Yeah. SO  boring. We'll see how I did though... Probably not that well to be honest but I'm alright with that.

I've been watching My Big Fat Royal Gypsy Wedding, the American series. I can't get over how young these girls get married. One episode, a 17-year-old girl marries a boy of 18 years whom she'd only met twice prior to the wedding!! INSANE! I'll tell you what else is insane too, the size of these dresses!!

They're AWESOME! Those dresses must weigh a tonne though. I feel sorry for them when they talk about the bruises they get on their hips! The girl in pink is only 14 and the party she went to was so she could look for her husband... I'm 22! I'm not ready to think about marriage yet!

Anyway, that was my pointless ramble for the day! I hope you've had a lovely Thursday.

A day of procrastination and blog-browsing.

So I've been procrastinating big time today. I have 6 pieces of work that I need to do for the next couple of weeks, as well as my dissertation. As you'll soon discover, I am one for leaving things until the last minute! I guess I just work best under pressure... Or that's what I tell myself anyway!!

Whilst procrastinating, I have been browsing blogs, and particularly crafting blogs. I am quite into craft myself and love to see what wonderful things other people have made!

One blog that I have spent most of today going through every page, is Twinkie Chan. Her motto is "Eat your cake & wear it, too!" That basically sums up her work! This talented crochet-queen makes gorgeous food-based accessories, such as ice cream hair clips and cupcake scarves! I ordered her book today so hopefully that will be coming through in the next couple of days.

You have no idea how excited I am! Actually... You can probably tell by the amount of exclamation marks I've used in this post.

I have an online store called "Banana Bracelets" where I sell the friendship bracelets that I make.

I've recently been thinking about expanding my online shop to items that I have knitted and crocheted too. My mum got me a wonderful book for Christmas!
Definitely will be trying out some of those hats. The first hat I'm desperate to try is a crab hat (and by "crab hat", I do not mean a hat designed for crabs to wear...)

Anyway, I will write a post introducing myself soon, I promise! I wish you all the best with the year ahead and I hope 2013 sees you well :)
